Troopers investigate early-morning shooting

VERONA, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Kentucky State Police, Post 5 Campbellsburg is investigating a shooting that took place on South Fork Road in Gallatin County at about 2 a.m. Saturday.

According to troopers, the preliminary investigation reveals Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office was notified of an altercation involving 30-year-old Joshua C. Sayler, of Verona, Ky., and 29-year-old Taylor M. Barnett, of Verona.

During the investigation, it was determined Barnett shot Sayler multiple times while they were in an altercation, the KSP said.

Sayler was taken by Gallatin County EMS to the University of Cincinnati Hospital in Ohio where he is in stable condition.

The investigation is ongoing by Post 5 Detectives, who were assisted at the scene by Post 5 Troopers, Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office, Warsaw Police Department, Gallatin County EMS, and Verona EMS.
