Troopers hope to find Greenup County man’s car, swept away in flood

GREENUP COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – The search is still on for a man who was reportedly swept away by flood waters in Greenup County Tuesday morning.

State Police said they stopped searching around 7 p.m. and will pick back up in the morning with hopes the water will recede a bit to make the search easier.

Troopers say it is not a recovery mission as some outlets are reporting.

They say they hope to find the man’s car because it would help them to find him.

According to troopers, the man was trying to cross a flooded road in the Load Community when his car was swept away by high waters.

Witnesses told troopers they saw the man get out of his car and try to swim to safety, but they lost sight of him.

Boat patrols and drones are being used in the search for him.
