Trinity Captures State Title over Scott County; Hicks ’99 percent sure’ his coaching career is done

LEXINGTON, KY- The Trinity Shamrocks’ 15-0 run midway through the fourth quarter helped them capture the 2019 Sweet 16 Title with a win over Scott County, 50-40.

Senior David Johnson, who is a University of Louisville commit, scored 23 points and 12 rebounds on his way to being named the Most Valuable Player.

It’s the second straight season Scott County has lost in the state title game. While speaking with reporters, Cardinals Head Coach Billy Hicks said he was ’99-percent sure’ that this would be his final game.

Hicks later added that he still hasn’t made a decision yet and will at a further date.

The Cardinals finishes the season 35-3. They graduate seven seniors this season, including forward Michael Moreno, who finishes his career with more than 2,300 points and 1,300 rebounds.
