Tri Delta at UK raised over 33K in one day for St. Jude

Lexington, Ky. (WTVQ)-  The Delta Rho Chapter of Delta Delta Delta at the University of Kentucky set out on a goal Tuesday, lead by their philanthropy chair Jessica Malatia, to raise $20,000 in 24 hours for the children and families at St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital located in Memphis, Tennessee.

Tri Delta has been dedicated to raise money for St. Jude since the beginning of their partnership back in 1999 already raising over $55 million dollars. All members of the chapter participated in the fundraising of this event. The link to donate went live at 8 a.m. on Tuesday morning and by 11:30 a.m. Tri Delta had already reached the halfway point of $10,000. Continuing to get the word out about the event the chapter hit their goal of $20,000 in seven short hours.

Tri Delta says they continued to challenge themselves to raise more money for the patients that St. Jude treats and changed their fundraising go to 30K in one day.

They hit their goal right before 8 p.m. on Tuesday night, which put their total to $30,000 in a short 12 hours. Tri Delta’s grand total for “20K in One Day” was $33,315, putting them 160% over their original fundraising goal and making them the top online fundraiser on the St. Jude fundraiser website.

The ladies of Delta Delta Delta have helped St. Jude give children with pediatric cancer hope, helping aid St. Jude to put their overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20%, when the hospital first opened, to 80% today. St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital will not stop there, they will continue to fight until there is no child that dies from cancer, and neither will Tri Delta.

The Delta Delta Delta national fraternity has pledged to raise 60 million dollars in 10 years, the largest single commitment by a St. Jude Partner.

The Delta Rho chapter at University of Kentucky will hold their annual fundraiser “Delta House of Pancakes”, an all you can eat pancake bar. The event will be hosted at The 90, on University of Kentucky’s campus, Friday, October 5th from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. With a purchase of a ticket guests will have access to all you can eat breakfast food, enter in a pancake eating contest, “Pie a Delta” in the face, and are eligible to win raffles of things from gift cards to a Kendra Scott jewelry set.
