Transportation director on leave after questionable school bus inspections

ANDERSON COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – The transportation director for the Anderson County School District is no longer on the job.

The Anderson News says it was announced Wednesday that Jeff Young will be on sick leave for the remainder of his contract.

The announcement comes one week after it was revealed the mechanics under Young’s supervision were not accurately filling out monthly inspection reports on school buses, according to the newspaper.

The newspaper says the issue came to light after a bus inspector from the Kentucky Department of Education took four Anderson County school buses off the road for mechanical and safety issues just days after those same buses were inspected by the mechanics.

There is no word on when Young’s contract ends.

The Anderson News say he is paid an annual salary of $65,400.

The district’s former superintendent, Sonny Fentress, has been named interim director.
