Lafayette’s Playoff Game to Resume Saturday After Power Outage

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – There was an unexpected game delay when the power went out during Lafayette High School’s football playoff game against Butler Friday night in Lexington.

As a result of the power outage, the game between Lafayette and Butler was postponed until 3:00 p.m. tomorrow, according to the Kentucky High School Athletic Association.

The outage happened in the first quarter with Lafayette leading 7-to-6.

Eyewitness accounts at Ishmael Stadium say there was a flash of light and small fire at an electrical box and then the electricity went out.

The Lexington Fire Department responded to the small fire, which was quickly extinguished.

The players from Lafayette and Butler were moved from the field to the school area.

No injuries were reported.
