Traffic stop leads to arrest of man suspected of fraud in seven counties

BOYLE COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A man suspected of defrauding people in seven counties is caught during a traffic stop in Boyle County.

According to the Boyle County Sheriff’s Department, 59-year-old Douglas A. Shearer, of Lancaster, Ky., is charged with felony theft by deception-including cold checks and theft by failure to make required disposition of property on warrants from Casey, Fayette, Clark, Bourbon, Garrard and Harrison counties.

He remains in the Boyle County Detention Center.

He was arrested following a traffic stop by Sheriff’s Capt. Casey McCoy and K9 Deputy T.J. Wren on Shelby Street in Junction City. Shearer was driving on a suspended license, according to the department.

Deputies say they found Shearer has done work in Boyle County and is suspected of being paid for jobs but never finishing the project.
Area residents who think they may have been involved with Shearer are encouraged to call their local law enforcement agency.
