Traffic stop leads to pot bust on I-24

KUTTAWA, Ky. (WTVQ) – A traffic stop on I-24 in Lyon County led to the discovery of more than 100-pounds of marijuana and a lot of cash, according to State Police.

Investigators say they found 142-pounds of pot with an estimated street value of $280,000 along with $9,750 in cash in a car driven by Joseph Sommerfelt, of Nashville, Tennessee.

A passenger in the car, Weston Danks, of Knoxville, was arrested along with Sommerfelt on trafficking charges, according to KSP.

Both men were lodged in the Caldwell County Jail.
