Traffic Update: All SB I-75 lanes in Fayette County reopen after truck crash

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The afternoon commute through Fayette County on southbound I-75 turned into a nightmare well into the evening after Lexington Police say a tractor-trailer hit a concrete barrier, jackknifed and blocked three lanes of traffic.

The accident happened at 5:26 p.m. near mile marker 116.8, according to police.

Investigators say the semi spilled fluids all over the interstate, which were spread by the rain and traffic, so all southbound lanes between Iron Works Pike and Newtown Pike (EXIT 115) had to be shutdown until around 10:00 p.m.

Traffic was detoured using Iron Works Pike and Newtown Pike near the northern split, but there was still a massive backup, according to police.

Motorists were asked to avoid the area.

Police say no one was hurt.
