Tornado touched down in Hardin Co. Wednesday night

HARDIN COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) — The National Weather Service was in Hardin County Thursday surveying damage from Wednesday night’s storm.

An EF-1 tornado touched down at 5:39 p.m. and was on the ground for four minutes, according to NWS.

NWS estimates wind speeds were up to 100 mph.

The tornado touched down in a subdivision about a 1½ miles South of Rineyville. It stayed on the ground for 2½ miles.

Thomas Road had most of the damage, NWS reports.

It tore several trees down, some trees on top of homes and outbuildings. Shingles were torn off of roofs and two outbuildings were destroyed.

NWS says the highest monetary damage was a camper that had blown over onto a minivan in the subdivision. Both were totaled.

No injuries reported.
