Tip leads to drug arrest in Frankfort

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – Acting on information provided by citizens, a convicted drug trafficker was arrested on a new set of charges, according to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.

Franklin County Sheriff Pat Melton says 22-year old Zachary Rice, of Frankfort, was arrested following a combined investigation by his department and United State Postal Inspectors.

Acting on a tip, information was developed that led to a controlled delivery of a suspicious package, according to the sheriff. That led to Rice being charged with Trafficking Controlled Substance 1st Degree, Second Offense and Persistent Felony Offender II, according to Sheriff Melton.

Rice was on probation for previous convictions for Trafficking Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 2-grams of Heroin, two counts, Promoting Contraband 1st Degree and Second Offense Trafficking Marijuana from an incident in 2013, according to Sheriff Melton.

Rice was also on probation for Trafficking Controlled Substance 1st Degree from a case in 2012, according to the Sheriff.

Additional charges are anticipated against Rice, according to Sheriff Melton.
