Tie-Breaking Vote Needed To Approve Latest CentrePointe Designs
The published report said two of the board’s design professionals, architect Graham Pohl and UK architectural professor Martin Summers, voted to block the new designs proposed for the development in the heart of downtown Lexington.
The board’s interim chair, Luther Andal, cast the tie-breaking vote.
The design review board has the say over construction design near Lexington’s historic courthouse.
The design that was approved on Wednesday was based on EOP Architects drawings, but was led by CMMI of Atlanta, which was the original firm on the project that was recently rehired by developer Dudley Webb after EOP pulled out.
The current designs include a 100-unit apartment building, a hotel, a 10-story office building and a two-story restaurant and bar building.
The foundation of the CentrePointe development is a three-story, 700 space underground parking garage.
Developer Dudley Webb said groundbreaking is still expected in late October with construction to begin in early November.
