Thursday COVID numbers demonstrate steady progress
FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky’s latest data regarding COVID-19 showed 8,341 more vaccinations, 13 fewer new cases, and a 0.07% decrease in positivity rate compared to Wednesday, May 19.
As of Thursday, May 20, 1,945,674 Kentuckians have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Governor Andy Beshear also reported 575 new cases of #COVID19 and a positivity rate that went down to 2.70%.

Of Thursday’s new cases, 133 were in people under 18, which was an increase from Wednesday’s 123 cases in people under 18.
The state recorded 13 new deaths, bringing the total since March 2020 to 6,693.
Additionally, 357 people are in the hospital, which is down 21 from Wednesday, 104 are in ICU, down four from Wednesday, and 44 are on ventilators, down from 49 on Wednesday.
The top five counties by percent of residents vaccinated are: Woodford (58%), Franklin (57%), Fayette (55%), Scott (49%) and Campbell (48%).
The bottom five counties by percent of residents vaccinated are: Christian (18%), Spencer (18%), Ballard (20%), Lewis (21%) and McCreary (21%).
