Three pit bull mixes abandoned in Lexington
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- Lexington-Fayette Animal Care and Control is asking for your help in finding who abandoned three pit bull mixes.
Animal Care says a good Samaritan found the dogs near the railroad tracks on Kearney Ridge and called it in.
According to Animal Care, a third pit bull mix was found dead in a blanket and collar.
The other two are receiving medical attention and are stable right now.
Animal control says the puppies were dirty and one wobbles a bit when it walks. They were emaciated so they’ll be on some controlled feeding for a little bit, according to Animal Control Officer Shelby Bailey.
“They are the most adorable puppies you could ever meet,” says Bailey. “They’re super lovable to one another. They want to be together all the time. One’s very playful and outgoing and kind of the star of the room and the other one’s a little more shy and quiet but super sweet.”
Officer Bailey urges the community to call them if they feel they can’t take care of their pets and to never do something like this when they can help you.
“It’s tough and it’s upsetting because you never want to see an animal in this condition,” says Officer Bailey. “I think every officer would agree if a day came where we were no longer needed that would be our dream.”
She says with the investigation ongoing, it’s not known when they’ll be up for adoption but they’re excited for that day.
