UPDATE: Police still seek info in shooting that left teen dead


LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington Police continue to seek information on a shooting Saturday evening that left a 17-year-old dead and a 67-year-old and 27-year-old wounded.

In a statement released Monday, shortly after 6 p.m. Saturday, May 8, 2021, officers responded to the 700 block of Florence Avenue for a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers located three individuals suffering from gunshot wounds; a 67-year-old male victim suffered a non-life-threatening injury, a 27-year-old male victim suffered serious injuries, and a 17-year-old victim suffered life-threatening injuries.

All reported injuries are based on initial contact with officers.

The 17-year-old victim was transported to UK Medical Center Chandler Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The Fayette County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as Mar’quevion Leach.

The shooting happened in the street.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Three people were shot, one fatally, just after 6 p.m. Saturday in the 700 block of Florence Avenue in Lexington.

Just before 11 p.m. Saturday, Fayette County Coroner Gary Ginn said 17-year-old Mar’quevion Leach died at UK Medical Center hospital shortly after the shooting.

According to police, they responded to the neighborhood around 6 p.m. When officers arrived they say they found two adults and one teen shot.

All three were taken to the hospital with serious injuries, police say.

Officers say at this time no one has been arrested.
