Thief tries to leave store with whole cash register

Lexington, Ky. (WTVQ) – One thief got a little too greedy and ended up with nothing when he broke into a convenience store in Lexington Tuesday.

Police responded to the Nickel’s Food Mart on Paris Pike at around 12:30 a.m. to a report of a break-in.

The suspect smashed a glass door and crawled through some bars.
 
He then climbed over the counter and instead of trying to just take the drawer out of the register, police say he  tried to take the whole cash register.
 
The register would not fit through the bars so he left empty-handed.

Police are reviewing surveillance video.
