Thefts leave people in Floyd County without phone and internet

FLOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Floyd County Sheriff’s Department says thieves are stealing AT&T phone and internet cables, leaving people without service.

Deputies say the thefts have been reported in Printer, Minnie and Bucks Branch.

Investigators say the thieves find low spots where the cables and lines are closer to the ground, then use a rope to throw over the lines, tie the rope to a vehicle and pull the lines down.

Deputies say the thefts have accounted for more than $30,000 in losses, in addition to leaving people without phone and internet service.

Anyone with information that could help investigators should contact the department’s anonymous tip line at 606-949-2020.
