The Nest hosts first in-person event of the year

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Nest in Lexington held its first in-person event of the year Saturday afternoon at Duncan Park. Organizers say the theme of this year’s Family Fun Day was safety with booths set up with resources and information for families. Free COVID testing and a vaccine clinic was also available at the event.

Along with informational booths, the fun day included activities like face painting, a petting zoo and a fire truck to explore for kids to enjoy. The Nest says it expects over 300 people to attend.

“I look forward to events like this. It really fills you back up,” says JoEllen Wilhoite, director of philanthropy at The Nest. “You’re able to see real examples of the humanity of our city and how much people really do care about the community.”

The Nest says this community event gets bigger every year and it hopes soon to fill up the whole park with families and volunteers.
