The Brightlight Foundation partners to host ‘Community Against Drug Dealers’
RICHMOND, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A community rallied together in the fight against fentanyl and drug dealers on Saturday.
Cheyenne Helm of the Brightlight Foundation and Ron McCauley with Community Against Drug Dealers partnered together to host the rally in downtown Richmond.
The rally began at noon.
Mayor Robert Blythe, Dr. Donald Douglas the Republican Kentucky State Senator and Congressman Andy Barr were also in attendance and gave speeches.
One of the main reasons for the rally is to educate and bring awareness to people on the statistics surrounding fentanyl and drug dealers.
“I’m a physician, I’ve been in health care a long time,” said Douglas. “I went into healthcare to help and to make a difference, to educate. That’s what I do and that’s what I will continue to do as along as I have the opportunity to do that.”
McCauley spoke about why an event like this is important for him to hold.
“It’s my due diligence as an American to stand up for what’s not right,” said McCauley.
Helm spoke about what an event like this means to her.
“I’ve always said if I change just one person’s life then I have succeeded in the mission that god has placed for me to do,” said Helm.
The rally ended at 2 p.m.
