Thanksgiving night deals take place of football and leftovers

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- Shortly after many wrapped up their Thanksgiving meals, they lined up outside Fayette Mall in order to save money and hopefully time on holiday shopping.

Three hours before Fayette Mall opened its doors though, a store attached to it was shelling out deals and packing parking lots. J.C. Penney drew crowds in while they waited for the main attraction; 70 stores throughout the mall, opening Thanksgiving nights, offering deals to shoppers.

The mall expects around 150,000 shoppers to pass through its doors by Friday night when it closes at 10 p.m. That’s a blip on the map when you look at National Retail Federation numbers estimating 135-million shoppers between Thanksgiving and Cyber Monday.

Thanksgiving night, thousands of shoppers from across the Bluegrass looked to find those deals and officially start the holiday shopping season.
