Tennessee man dies when ejected from pickup in I-75 crash

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. (WTVQ) – A 32-year-old Tennessee man was killed late Sunday night when he was ejected from his truck when it crashed into an embankment on I-75 in Whitley County.

According to the Kentucky State Police, Robert Q. Hamblin, of Jellico, Tenn., was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident on I-75 northbound just north of the Tennessee state line.

Troopers responded to the crash at about 10:10 p.m. Sunday.

The initial investigation indicates a 2008 Ford F-150 pickup driven northbound by Hamblin ran off the right side of the road and into a hillside. The pickup overturned and Hamblin was ejected, the KSP said in a statement.

Troopers continue the investigation. In addition to KSP personnel, others assisting included the Whitley County Sherriff’s Office, Whitley County EMS, Emlyn Fire Department and the Whitley County Coroner’s office.
