Temperatures improve after frosty start to Monday

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Happy Monday & happy Earth Day! After a chilly Sunday, many areas waking up frost on the ground to start your workweek. Temperatures will be improving for the afternoon hours climbing into the mid-60s. It won’t be as cold overnight as a light southerly breeze increases and a few clouds will move in. Tuesday morning temperatures will be in the low 40s for most areas. Most of the daytime will be dry and pleasant on Tuesday ahead of late evening and overnight rain showers.
Rain chances increase right around sunset for central Kentucky on Tuesday evening. Rain will spread eastward during the overnight hours into the early morning hours of Wednesday along a cold front. As this front passes, you can expect a few lingering light showers through the first half of the day on Wednesday. Temperatures will struggle to reach the low 60s by the afternoon.
There will be another frost chance Wednesday night. Make sure you protect those sensitive plants once again, just like you did Sunday night. After a cold start to the day on Thursday, we will improve into the mid-to-upper 60s Thursday afternoon. Thursday will be dry but that is ahead of isolated rain and storm chances heading into the weekend.
You can expect another warm-up heading into the weekend as well. These warmer temperatures will likely continue through the end of the month as well. This will lead to more rain and storm chances early next week as well.
