Telephone scam alert in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A scam alert has been issued by Lexington-Fayette Animal Care and Control. The organization warns scammers are calling people and attempting to solicit money using their phone number, with the exact number showing up on caller ID.

Animal Care and Control officials emphasize they would never ask for money over the phone. They also note their officers will always wear uniforms and drive marked Animal Care and Control vehicles.

If you suspect a scam, officials advise filing a report with the police or the FBI.
