Teens arrested in string of home invasions in Georgetown

GEORGETOWN, Ky. (WTVQ) – Some Scott County students are under arrest, accused of carrying out a string of violent home invasions and robberies.

The Georgetown Police Department says 22-year-old Jermaine Barber, along with Calvyn Winston and Kenneth Edwards, both 18, and three juveniles, ages 17, 16, and 13, were arrested on Monday.

Three of the suspects were taken into custody at Scott County High School.

The 13-year-old was taken into custody at Royal Spring Middle School.

According to police, the suspects broke into homes, held people at gunpoint and stole items, including guns.

Police say the robberies happened over the summer, with the latest taking place last month.

They say the suspects may have known some of the victims.

No one was injured.

The suspects are charged with robbery, drug trafficking, receiving stolen guns and criminal syndicate.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is also investigating and police say there could be federal charges filed against the suspects.
