Teenager killed in four wheeler accident in Laurel County

LILY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A 17-year old girl from Lily was killed Monday night in a four-wheeler accident, according to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office. The victim’s name has not been released. The 17-year old driver of the Honda Rancher 4-wheeler was injured and taken to St. Joseph Hospital London. His name wasn’t released. Investigators say the driver is from Lily.

Deputies say the accident happened around 7:00 p.m., on South Old Whitley Road in the Lily community. Investigators say the 4-wheeler was southbound down a hill when it failed to negotiate a left-hand curve. The 4-wheeler traveled over a 15-foot embankment, hit a tree and overturned into a creek, according to deputies.

Both the driver and passenger were thrown from the 4-wheeler. The female passenger was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to deputies.

The accident is being handled as a death investigation, according to deputies.
