Teenager accused of leading police in a car chase

DANVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – Police say a teenager is in custody after he led them on a chase before crashing in Danville.

The Danville Police Department says around 11:40 a.m. Monday, they responded to the Boyle County Public Library for a report of a vehicle theft.

While searching the area, police say they saw the stolen vehicle traveling on a 6th Street. Police say when they attempted to stop the car, the driver took off, leading them on a chase throughout several city streets and neighborhoods, causing damage along the way.

According to authorities, the vehicle finally stopped after hitting an embankment in Jackson Park. Police say the 16-year-old male and a 15-year-old female in the car were taken into custody.

According to police, the 16-year-old is currently being held in the Adair County Juvenile Detention Center. The 15-year-old was released to a guardian.
