Teenager critically wounded in apparent car-to-car shootout

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington Police say a 19-year old suffered life-threatening injuries after being shot in an apparent shootout with someone else on Friday night.

Investigators say they think the shooting began shortly after 6:00 p.m. on Glen Arvin Avenue.

Preliminarily, investigators think the victim, whose name wasn’t released, was in his car in a shootout with at least one other car.  They don’t know yet how many people may have been involved.

After the victim was shot in his car, he drove to a house in the 600 block of Georgetown Street to get help.  The people who live in the home where the victim stopped called 9-1-1.

The teenager was rushed into surgery at UK Hospital.

His car had several bullet holes in it, according to investigators.

Police say people in the area reported hearing the shootout, but so far, they haven’t found any witnesses.
