Teen Wins Holocaust Essay Contest

A Lexington high school junior is off to Boston, but this isn’t an ordinary pleasure trip.

Benjamin Tucker attends Sayre School. He recently wrote an essay about the Holocaust, and was one of ten national winners. For that, he won a trip to Boston and up to ten-thousand dollars in college scholarship money. For Benjamin, the essay was very personal. His grandfather survived a concentration camp and much more.

"He lived through the Holocaust, was shot 13 times in the arm by a machine gun," Benjamin told ABC 36 News. "He beat cancer two out of three times, and he was hit by a car. So he was pretty strong."

While in Boston, Benjamin will meet Holocaust survivors and visit Holocaust museums and memorials.
