Teen saves baby from bullets in Louisville shooting

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ/WDRB) – A Louisville mother is expressing her gratitude after a friend of a friend covered her baby during a shooting in the city.

Maranda Dillon says she was involved in a fender-bender near 39th Street and Market Street.  Neither she nor the driver got out of the car, and after a couple of minutes had passed, Dillon says she decided to pull out.

That’s when she says the other driver began shooting a gun at her car.

Worried for her baby in the back seat, Dillon says she hit the gas.  Meanwhile, another teen in the back seat – a friend of a friend – dove over the child to protect him.

Dillon managed to get to the Dairy Mart on 28th Street and Market Street, where she pulled in and called police.

It was only then that she discovered the teen in the back seat had been grazed by one of the bullets.

The child was uninjured.

Louisville Metro Police Department searched the area for two hours, but were unable to locate the shooter.
