Teen dies in early-morning trailer fire

CORBIN, Ky. (WTVQ) – A 16-year-old boy died and his aunt and her boyfriends were injured in a trailer fire early Monday morning in the Corbin area of Knox County.

According to the Kentucky State Police, the fire call came at 3:11 a.m. on Cedar Bluff Lane.

When firefighters and first responders arrived, they found the teen inside the trailer. His aunt and her boyfriend were taken to Corbin Baptist Health Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the KSP said. The teen lived at the residence with his aunt.

A cause of the fire has been determined, but foul play is not suspected, investigators said.

Cold temperatures overnight might have been a contributing factor.

Troopers Sidney Wagner and Det. Rodney Sturgill continue the investigation.

Also assisting at the scene were Knox County Sheriffs Department, West Knox and Bailey Switch fire departments and Knox County Coroner’s Office.
