Teen charged in early-morning shooting
AUGUSTA, Ky. (WTVQ) – An 18-year-old Bracken County teenager has been charged with first-degree assault for shooting another man Tuesday morning.
According to Kentucky State Police, Dillon Basford was arrested following an altercation that turned violent at 4137 Dutch Ridge Road in Bracken County.
The altercation started at about 12:30 a.m. and ended with Basford firing “several rounds from a long gun,” striking 25-year-old Christopher Downs, of Clearfield, once, according to the KSP.
Downs was taken to University of Cincinnati Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
As of noon Tuesday, Basford remained in the Mason County Detention Center with a $10,000 bond.
The ongoing KSP investigation is being led by Det. Chris Lairson.
