Teen who beat brain tumor gets to be cop for a day

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Leestown Middle School student is enjoying a very special birthday on Monday, living out his dream job as he hits 13 years old.

Tyler Biggs’ journey to his teen years hasn’t come without its bumps in the road.  His mother, Amanda Biggs, says Tyler has had to beat back what was diagnosed as an inoperable brain tumor – twice.

Tyler has always wanted to be a police officer, and in honor of his courage facing down his health issues, the Lexington Police Department and Lexington Fire Department arranged a surprise escort for him to school, complete with his own uniform.

Amanda Biggs says the birthday gift was a surprise for her son.

ABC 36’s Fadia Patterson followed Tyler on his big day, and will update this story with a full report on ABC 36 News at 5.
