UPDATE: Sheriff identifies victims of Georgetown shooting, assault

The Scott County Sheriff’s Office has released the names of two people injured in an assault Wednesday.
According to the sheriff, a 16-year-old shot his grandfather, 79-year-old Richard Barkley, and assaulted his grandmother, 80-year-old Elois Barkley.
Richard Barkley is at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in critical condition.
Elois Barkley refused treatment.
GEORGETOWN, Ky. (WTVQ) – A 16-year old is accused of assaulting a female family member, shooting another along with the family dog, according to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators say it happened Wednesday at a home in the 1200 block of Barkley Road around 10:00 p.m.
Deputies say the woman who was assaulted was able to run next door to a neighbor’s house and they called 9-1-1.
The man who was shot was airlifted to U.K. Hospital in Lexington where he was listed in critical condition with life-threatening injuries, according to deputies. The woman who was injured refused treatment at the scene, according to investigators.
Deputies say the teenager was eventually arrested without incident.
No names were released.
