“Take Care Peace Walks” To End Violence In Lexington

In the past, Duncan Park has been a site of violence.  On April 13 of this year it’s where Antonio Franklin was sadly shot and killed.

After several recent shootings this summer, the city and police force are asking you to talk a walk for peace.

This is after there have been eleven homicides this year.  This time last year there were nine and in 2012, six.

The dates of the peace walks are July 12, 19, 26 and August 2.

They go from 6-8 and start at Duncan Park.  The route starts on Martin Luther King Boulevard and 5th Street.  It will start heading East on 5th Street toward Elm Tree Lane, eventually ending back at Duncan Park.

If you are unable to walk, police said you can sit on your porch with your light on to show support during the "We Care Peace Walks."
