Kentuckians traveling to areas of the world affected by the Zika virus disease, an infectious illness circulating in various countries, should take steps to protect themselves and their families from this and other vector-borne diseases, the Kentucky Department for Public Health advises.
Kentucky State Treasurer Todd Hollenbach warned consumers Friday to watch out for suspicious mail regarding unclaimed property. He said the state had been notified recently about mailings which claimed to be from the National Unclaimed Property Association (NAUPA).
London Police warned the community about a reported scam. Officers said someone claiming to be from a utility company was calling people and telling the victim that he or she was behind on gas, water, or electricity payments.
Gov. Steve Beshear and Attorney General Jack Conway are warning consumers to beware of scam artists who might try to dupe them into divulging personal information on websites that mimic those where people can sign up for insurance policies.
