Swim-A-Thon event helps grieving families

WILMORE, Ky. (WTVQ) – While one in four pregnancies end in miscarriage or stillbirth, their grieving families all too often suffer in silence. This Saturday, local nonprofit Miles With Maeve is raising support and awareness for them.

On Saturday, June 4, non-profit organization Miles With Maeve, is hosting an all-ages, all activity levels Swim-A-Thon at Asbury University’s Luce Physical Activities Center, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Founder and 3-time Ironman finisher Garrett McAlister shares, “Life without my daughter Maeve once seemed impossible, like many of my athletic goals first did. This Swim-A-Thon is a way to remember the babies who’ve been lost, celebrate life, and offer hope to hurting families.”

The event will serve as final preparation for McAlister’s upcoming 20k Swim Around Key West fundraiser, and swimmers and non-swimmers of all ages can participate by swimming alongside him or cheering him on.
