Suspects rob home, run away from police
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Lexington Police Department is looking for the individuals they say robbed a woman in her home, and then later sped away from an officer trying to stop them, causing a minor injury.
Police say it started Wednesday night at around 10:20 p.m. when officers received a call about a robbery at an apartment on Centre Parkway. When they got there, police say the victim told them that three unknown men forced their way into her home, saying they were looking for her brother who owed them money. Officers say when the woman told the men that her brother didn’t live there, they took her phone and left the house.
Later, just before 12:30 a.m. on Thursday, officers say they pulled over a gold Kia with no working brake lights on Limestone Street and Church Street. Police say there was a noticeable smell of marijuana around the car as they approached. Investigators say they asked the driver to come out of the vehicle, and when he opened the door, an officer put his left hand on the driver’s arm through the open window. That’s when police say the driver took off, hyperextending the officer’s arm and causing a minor injury.
Police say the driver and passenger in the car were identified as being the same men involved in the earlier robbery on Centre Parkway.
