Suspect search underway after equipment theft in Livingston County

SMITHLAND, Ky. (WTVQ) – State Police are searching for suspects following an overnight equipment theft in Livingston County.

Investigators say they were called to a farm in Smithland on Saturday after a white Bobcat “Track Loader” model T750 was stolen overnight.

While investigating the theft on the farm, Troopers were alerted to a trailer theft from a business in Smithland.

Investigators say a 16 foot wood bottom dovetail trailer was stolen.  They say a similar trailer with blown tires was found abandoned near the site of the thefts.

State Police believe that the thief or thieves used the abandoned trailer to steal the piece of equipment, but due to its weight, the trailer failed and was abandoned, prompting the theft of the trailer from the Smithland business.

Investigators say surveillance video shows a full size pickup truck hauling the stolen equipment east on KY 70 (Tiline Road).  They say the pickup could possibly be a duel wheel truck with running lights on top of the cab and back fenders.

Anyone with information regarding the thefts is asked to contact KSP Post 1 at 270-856-3721.
