UPDATE: Shooting, robbery suspect killed in fiery Bourbon County crash identified

Kentucky State Police have identified the man allegedly shot in Rowan County by Lucas Vanderpool, 33.

KSP says Cory Adkins, 55, showed up to St. Claire Hospital in Morehead with a gunshot wound.

Police say Lucas Vanderpool, a man also accused of robbing multiple gas stations before crashing his car, shot Adkins.

According to KSP, Adkins has since been released from the hospital.

Kentucky State Police have released the name of the man who crashed into a tree in Bourbon County following a police chase.

Police say 33-year-old Lucas Vanderpool, of Bath County, died at the scene of the crash Sunday night.

State Police say officers in Winchester chased Vanderpool’s vehicle following a report of an armed robbery, but backed off before the crash due to the high speed of the pursuit.

PARIS, Ky. (WTVQ) — The Bourbon County Sheriff’s Office says a suspect they were pursuing died in a crash Sunday night on Highway 57 in Bourbon County.

According to deputies, they were pursuing a man wanted for a shooting in Rowan County that happened around 8 o’clock Sunday night, as well as successive robberies in Rowan, Montgomery, and Clark Counties.

Deputies say they caught up with the suspect in Winchester, at which point he tried to escape, driving towards Paris.

They say he turned right on Highway 57 toward North Middletown, where he crashed into a tree after around two miles.

They say his car caught on fire and he died on scene.

The condition of the shooting victim is not currently known.

State Police have taken over the investigation and say will provide an update around 8 o’clock Monday morning.
