Lexington police say they have the person behind the theft.

According to court documents, the victim told police a man approached the fundraising table outside Walmart on West New Circle Road and asked about the jar with money in it.  Reportedly, the victim told him he was collecting money for veterans.  Court documents say that’s when the man pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the victim, then put it back into his waistband.

Police say the suspect then tried to grab the jar but it was bolted to the table, so he took the entire table with the jar and threw it into his pickup truck and took off.
