UPDATE: Suspect in officer-involved shooting wanted for bank robbery charges in FL

GEORGETOWN, Ky. (WTVQ)- The Punta Gorda Police Department says the suspect killed in the officer-involved shooting was wanted on bank robbery charges.

Punta Gorda police say a suspect entered a Punta Gorda bank with a weapon and demanded cash from the bank teller. They say that upon receiving money, the suspect fled and was not located when police arrived.

Punta Gorda police, Sarasota County deputies, Cape Coral police, and the FBI determined through investigation that the suspect was Edward Reynolds. They say Reynolds was also tied to several other bank robberies.

GEORGETOWN, Ky. (WTVQ) — State Police have now identified the man killed in an officer-involved shooting Tuesday night in Scott County.

According to State Police, Scott County deputies were assisting Georgetown Police and federal agents with a search for 57-year-old Edward Reynolds, a fugitive out of Florida.

They say police found Reynolds at the I-75 rest area near exit 127, where shots were fired.

Police say the Scott County deputy is in critical condition at UK Hospital, where Scott County deputies are gathering in a show of solidarity.
