Man accused of firing shots near BCTC campus arrested

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A man suspected of firing multiple gunshots near a college campus has been arrested, according to Lexington police.

Officers responded to a report of a man shooting a gun at the corner of Newtown Pike and Booker Street, across the street from the Bluegrass Community & Technical College Newtown Campus around noon Wednesday.

They found a pickup truck that had been struck several times. No one was hurt. Police say witnesses told the officers the suspect fled in a silver Dodge Charger.

Officers located the vehicle late Wednesday afternoon in the Woodhill area. Police say the driver, 22-year-old Deangreco Brown, was charged with drug and firearm offenses. His passenger, 21-year-old Daquis Sharp, fled the scene, according to police.

Police say they located Sharp on Thursday. He is accused of firing the shots.

He is charged with wanton endangerment, criminal mischief, fleeing/evading police and tampering with physical evidence.
