Supporters ecstatic for Andy Beshear

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – It has been a night full of cheers as Democrat Andy Beshear was elected as the next Governor of Kentucky meaning Republican Matt Bevin has lost.

The night started with Bevin leading in the polls but that changed as the night went on and more and more numbers came in.

Many supporters say they are ecstatic, but not surprised. They said Kentucky was obviously ready for a change.

Andy Beshear came out and gave his victory speech thanking the crowd for being here and supporting him along this crazy journey.

Beshear said his focus as Governor will be the same as his focus as Attorney General, fighting for Kentucky families, healthcare and public education.

Beshear said he will fund pensions, restore felon rights and lower the cost of prescription drugs.

He finished his speech by giving the famous line “a pension is a promise.”
