Sunny streak continues with above normal warmth

Sunny skies, hot afternoons, and mild nights continue across Central Kentucky

Wrapping Up the Weekend

Sunday closed out the weekend just the way it started—sunny, warm, and feeling more like mid-summer than mid-September. Highs reached into the upper 80s, and some spots even touched the low 90s. After a few isolated overnight showers Saturday into early Sunday, skies cleared back out, leaving us with another dry and bright afternoon. Tonight, expect mostly clear skies with overnight lows falling back into the mid-60s.

The Week Ahead: Staying Hot and Dry

As we head into the new week, the pattern doesn’t change much. Sunshine remains firmly in control, and highs will climb back into the low 90s through midweek—well above average for this time of year. Overnight lows will sit in the low to mid-60s, offering mild nights but not much relief from the heat.

The good news is that humidity will stay on the lower side, with dewpoints in the upper 50s to low 60s. That means while it’s hot, it won’t feel oppressively muggy. Still, with warm afternoons and little to no rain expected, it’s important to stay hydrated and keep the sunscreen handy if you’re spending time outdoors.

While last week’s drought monitor showed slight improvement across the region, the continued stretch of dry weather is likely to undo that progress. With little to no rain in the forecast for the next several days, conditions could worsen as we move deeper into September.

Late Week Changes Possible

By the end of the week, the weather pattern may finally start to shift. A developing system could bring a few scattered rain chances back to the region by Friday or the weekend, though it’s still too early to pin down details. Along with the potential for some showers, temperatures look to ease back into the mid-80s heading into next weekend.
