Summer like temperatures on the way
Meteorologist Jordan Smith has your Saturday evening ABC 36 Storm Team forecast
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Good Saturday evening everyone, it has been a warm and occasionally wet Saturday across central and eastern Kentucky. A few more scattered showers and storms remain possible through the evening but then it is all about a summer like look and feel moving in here for the next few days. Let’s start with Sunday morning and roll on. We look to stay mild into the low to mid 60s through the overnight and to start our Sunday with clearing skies.
Sunday afternoon will feature more sun than clouds with high temperatures in the low 80s.
Monday and Tuesday are then pretty much carbon copies of each other with a partly sunny sky and high temperatures in the mid to even some upper 80s.
Wednesday things start to change up a bit as a front nears close to the Bluegrass state. The exact timing on that front is a work in progress. The later in the day on Wednesday that front gets in here the better the opportunity we have to hit the low to mid 80s again. If that front speeds up and gets in here earlier in the day, we likely only hit the upper 70s. As of right now, odds favor it getting in here the second half of the day. That could also bring a strong to locally severe thunderstorm threat so we need to watch it closely in the coming days.
We keep scattered storm chances around going after that through the end of the week. Rainfall over the next 7 days looks to be on average 1″-3″. But locally higher amounts are possible in heavier thunderstorms so we need to watch the local flash flood threat into next week as well.
As always, stay up to date through it all both on-air and online with the ABC 36 Storm Team! #kywx
