KENTUCKY. (WTVQ)- Students, staff, and teachers are being asked by Kentucky education groups to join in on the National Day of Action against Gun Violence.

The Kentucky Education Association, The Kentucky Association of School Superintendents, the Kentucky Association of School Administrators, the Kentucky School Boards Association, and the PTA of Kentucky are encouraging participation in the movement being held April 20.

KEA officials are encouraging their members and colleague to participate in the movement to send a strong message to policy makers.

Other organizations participating in the movement are the National Education Association (NEA), the National Public Education Network, the American Federation of Teachers, Moms Demand Action, Everytown for Gun Safety, and Giffords: Courage to Fight Gun Violence.

All those standing together on April 20 are asked to wear blue and orange in honor of Marshall County High School as well as gather outside the school and observe two minutes of silence in honor of Bailey Holt and Preston Cope before beginning the school day.

KEA officials say that prayers will not make schools or students safe; only taking action.
