String of overdoses leads to death and damage
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – There were five overdoses reported in Lexington in less than an hour Friday which led to one death and an arrest, according to Lexington Police.
Investigators say a man died from a heroin overdose in the New Circle Road-Boardwalk area just before 5:00 p.m.
Forty minutes later, four men overdosed on what police believe was the designer drug serenity not far from the heroin overdose death; however, investigators say they don’t think the two are related.
In the second case, police say they received a call for a man down at a strip mall at the corner of New Circle Road and Russell Cave Road.
Police say when they arrived, the man who was down went “berserk,” put his head through a business window and had to be tazed twice before officers could get him under control and on to the hospital. Police say the man will be charged upon his release.
Investigators say three other men overdosed in the same area. Police believe the four men were together.
Police say all four men were given the overdose reversal drug Narcan, but did not respond to it. All four were taken to the hospital.
