Stretch of Mountain Parkway closed by sinkhole may reopen by mid-fall
FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – The state hopes to reopen by mid-fall a section of the Mountain Parkway that was closed more than a month ago after a sinkhole opened-up, according to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.
The westbound lanes were closed July 22, 2020 when the sinkhole developed.
Traffic has been detoured onto KY 15 between Exit 40 at Pine Ridge and Exit 33 at Slade.
Eastbound traffic has not been affected.
The state continues to warn drivers who use KY 15 as a detour to drive with caution because the road is narrow with a steep downhill grade and sharp curves.
