Streets Closed Downtown After Suspicious Box Found Outside Police Headquarters

Some streets in downtown Lexington were closed temporarily Wednesday evening after someone found a suspicious box outside police headquarters on Main Street.

Police said after the taped box was discovered, the Hazardous Devices Unit was called-in to investigate.

It was determined the box was empty, according to police.

During the investigation, Main Street was closed from Limestone Street to Quality Street and Martin Luther King, Junior Boulevard was shutdown from Short Street to Vine Street as a precaution.

All the streets were reopened after being closed for about 90-minutes.
