‘Street Craves’ closes; owners to expand burger concept

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – ‘Street Craves’ closed its doors in Lexington on Thursday, March 2, as its owners shift their focus to growing a burger concept, according to a release from the restaurant group.

The restaurant on South Limestone Street was a test concept for restaurant group Spartan Pastabilities, LLC.

The restaurant owners say they’re going to focus on ‘Freakin’ Unbelievable Burgers,’ what they call a fast casual gourmet burger concept that started in Michigan in 2012.

Freakin’ has since received national attention including a #12 spot on Fast Casual’s 2013 list of the “Top 100 Movers & Shakers” nationwide, and was named one of the “14 Burger Concepts to Watch in 2014” by BurgerBusiness.com.

As part of the Street Craves concept, operators were able to test the Freakin’ Unbelievable Burgers’ menu in the Lexington market. The first franchise unit was awarded to a Louisville couple who opened a location in Mall St. Matthews in November 2016.

Freakin’ is currently seeking area development agreements in the Lexington, Louisville and Northern Cincinnati areas, according to the release from the restaurant group.
